Hajja Salesjana
Our Salesian Constitutions state that the “religious profession is a sign of a loving encounter between the Lord who calls and the disciple who responds by giving himself totally to God and to his brothers and sisters”. On the 6th of September 2024, after 6 years from our first profession as Salesians of Don Bosco at the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians in Valdocco, Turin Bro. Matthew Alfino and myself made a vow that we will live obedient, poor and chaste for the rest of our lives, forming part of the Salesian congregation in order to be signs and witnesses of the love of God for the young, especially those who are poorest and most in need. It was indeed the beautiful culmination of a long and winding formation journey which brought us to where we are now. This profession of our Salesian vows took place during Mass which was celebrated at the parish church of St. Sebastian in Qormi, It was led by Fr. Eric Cachia, provincial of our vice-province, who also received our vows. Many other Salesians concelebrated. The Mass was beautifully animated by the Salesian Worship Team, along with some other members of the Salesian family who joined them. During his homily, Fr. Charlie Said reminded all those present that our true vocation is to love, just like our Saviour did, until the very end on the cross, and he also encouraged all the young people present to not be afraid to say yes to Jesus and follow Him, if they feel that the Lord is c a l l i n g them to serve Him.
