Hajja Salesjana

either with perpetual or temporary vows, while on the other hand we also gathered to bid our last farewell to our dear Fr. Anthony Caruana sdb and to our beloved Sr. Theresa Curmi FMA who were called back Home to eternal life, after long years of commitment and service to the Lord of the Harvest. We have welcomed new Salesian brothers to our communities and bade farewell to others who either moved on to other countries or have been asked to assume other roles of service in other local Salesian communities... This is life, it is always in motion, always in flux, always in becoming, always changing, forever adjusting and never static. It is paramount that we learn to go along with life’s flow, under the wise direction and guidance of Him who is the Way, the Truth and the Life for in all this constant motion, through tortuous, misty, shrouded pathways, God alone, who is the Light of the World, is ever constant and unchanging. Under His guidance we will proceed serenely in life, despite all that we experience. With Him we learn, with Him we grow and with Him we mature by what we go through. The ultimate task of each and every one of us is to wholly collaborate with our Creator God who loves us beyond our wildest reckoning, so that He can make out of our life, something beautiful for Him. Indeed, slowly but surely, eventually a unique masterpiece! But for this to occur, we have to let go and let God, we have to let Him take the steering wheel of our life and allow Him to direct us along the periods He knows are for our wholesome good. Admittedly, often there are times when we do not understand why things had to happen as they did but what reassures us is that God knows all, sees all and holds all under His wise and caring control. Perhaps, eventually, with the relentless passage of time, there will dawn a day when looking back on our life path and experiences, we will gather some fragments of knowledge and realise why things happened as they did. Till then, we must put our hands trustfully in His and let Him lead on to where He knows best. May this trustful attitude accompany us as we embark on a new year in our life, conscious that although we do not know what 2025 will bring, He who is Emanuel, God with us, Son of God and Son of Mary, Jesus Christ is with us, pilgriming with us here and now. And indeed, this truth makes all the difference, doesn’t it?! “I am with you always till the end of time!” (Mt. 28:20) I take this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones a healthy, serene and blessed New Year. May God and His Immaculate Mother, bless us all and lead us onwards! Photo by John Gibbons - Unsplash.com Photo by Matteo Bellia - Unsplash.com 4 Ottubru-Diċembru 2024 hajja
