Confessional, Altar and Good Night Pulpit Near Don Bosco’s Camerette in Museo Casa Don Bosco are three precious relics: the confessional in which Don Bosco initiated his boys to God’s mercy, the “wardrobe altar” placed in his bedroom from 1876 until 1886 where he celebrated daily mass when he was too weak to go the Basilica, and his “Good Night pulpit” from which he delivered his inspiration talks to the boys at the end of the day before sending them off to bed. The Good Night pulpit is positioned between the confessional and the altar. Deliberately so. This configuration sheds light on the transformative power of Don Bosco’s words; his messages moved hearts and guided lives. The Good Night pulpit was essentially his wireless social communications platform… his Tik Tok… making him a powerful youth “influencer”. What was the power behind his words? “Make yourself robust humble strong” We are commemorating the bicentenary of John Bosco’s dream of nine years, in which Jesus and Mary reveal to young John his mission (transforming boys on the edge from ‘wolves’ to ‘sheep’, and his method (patience and loving kindness, never through force). In order to fulfill this mission, Jesus tells John to teach his friends “the beauty of virtue, and the ugliness of sin” . In order to do this, Mary exhorts John to 22 hajja Fr.
