Salesian Relay Race The 6th July 2024 was a red letter day for our fledgling vice province which is now 6 years old! Our first Provincial, Fr. Paul Formosa sdb, ended his term of office and has handed over to the newly elected Provincial, Fr. Eric Cachia sdb, a past pupil of Savio College. The Salesian relay race continues onwards and forwards by Fr. Eric now as he spearheads and guides the Maltese Salesian Vice Province for the next six years to come. Challenges and changes will certainly abound as life nowadays propels us forward with a very fast pace, increasing the demands on each and every one of us. Yet we are all aware that time is in the hands of the One who created it. He alone is King, Lord and Soveriegn of all. All is in His mighty hands and we are blessed yet, mere, hired servants in His vineyard for a bracket of time while we walk this Earth, conscious that we must never get embroiled in the glorification of busyness but to learn to appreciate the now and the power of God’s eternal Presence. Awareness of this truth, keeps our feet grounded. As Don Bosco always told us, work with your feet on the ground and your heart in Heaven, where we truly belong. We wish Fr. Paul a restful period of time now after his long years in leadership and every blessing on Fr. Eric as he takes over this role of service and authority which is no mean feat but with God’s grace, love and mercy, it will be possible and doable for He never calls us to do something in His Name and than abandons us to our own devices. He will be there and He will assist us for as long as we invite Him to, allow Him and remain ever open to Him aware that ultimatetely, He is in total control and we are to allow Him to use us for His greater glory so that His Kingdom can further spread here and now.
