Photo by Ivan Maljarenko on Unsplash.com necessity, is disastrous for unless we do so, the journey becomes cumbersome, tiresome and an interminable drudgery. Our holistic health will surely suffer much in the process! Instead of appreciating each day, we end up moaning at each new dawn. Eventually we would be obliged to stop because our body would require rest and that is something which our rat-race society does not really encourage us to do because it wants us to forget that we are are human beings and not human doings. Our intrinsic value lies embedded in who we are – God’s beloved sons and daughters – and not in what we achieve or do. When at long last we do reach the summit, it will be the moment when our earthly pilgrimage here on Earth comes to a close and we take the leap of faith into God’s boundless love and unfailing promises. It will be when we jump into His merciful embrace as we leave this earthly life and head into eternity with God, where our exhilerating joy will finally be complete for we were made for Him and our hearts find their ultimate rest in Him alone. In none other. It will be like when a child meets his parent, rushes to hold his hand and then trots off delightfully into new territory, safe in the awareness that s/he is with the One who holds him/her close to his heart. There, we will be awed, gobsmacked and amazed at what God has prepared for those who love Him. For “ as it is written, eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him. ” (1 Cor. 2: 9-10) As 2023 slowly wanes towards its close, setting into the annals of world history, let us be wise enough to realise how fast time flies and cherish each step of our earthly pilgrimage. Let us take time to appreciate the journey we have been through these past months, whether it was pleasant, challenging, daunting or scary. Let us take no one and nothing we have journeyed with or gone through this year, forgranted because “ we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. ” (Rom. 8:28) Indeed it is wise to garner how precious and how fragile life truly is. Let us strive by God’s grace to live it with, in and through God’s unfailing Grace so that in so doing, we will make something beautiful out of it as the Lord of Life, Jesus Christ Himself, continues to hone, mould and carve a masterpiece from each and every one of us for His ultimate greater glory, now and forever unto eternity.
