recalls that he often saw him reclining on the couch well into the wee hours of the morning, praying his rosary. That rosary, made of white beads, is displayed on his night table, beside first class relics of St. Francis de Sales and St. Jane Frances de Chantal. In mid December 1887, his bed was moved to an adjacent office, where, on January 31, 1888 he would pass into eternity.
