Hajja Salesjana April-June 2021

15 H AJJA S ALESJANA 3. In which way are you part of the Salesian Family? During my sixty years as a Salesian, I held different positions in the Salesian Society. As headmaster, as rector, as bursar I was in charge of the Salesian Cooperators, of the Past Pupils and for many years I was chaplain to the Salesian Sisters. This helped me to come to know better these three groups of the Salesian Family. What message would you like to pass on to the readers of Óajja Salesjana? If you want to love and know Don Bosco, you must know his Preventive System and put it into practice! 6. 4. Is there a phrase or a sentence from Don Bosco that inspires you in your life? “If you want to be happy, you must merit it by being kind to all, by loving your friends, by being patient and generous with your enemies, weeping with those who weep, by not envying the happiness of others, by doing good to all and evil to none”. (MB IX, 662) In my long years in the missions I tried to live by these words of Don Bosco. 5. Who is Don Bosco for you and what strikes you most about him? He is my father, my guide and example. Don Bosco always struckme with the thirst he had for souls. Nothing mattered to him except saving souls. be like them. The feasts and functions in the church were also an attraction which helped me to come closer to God. Also, the presence of the Fathers and the Brothers in the playground and everywhere else left a good impression on me and later on, this helped me to understand better the ‘Preventive system’ of Don Bosco.
