31 H AJJA S ALESJANA The Logo In the past, many of you may have visited the “Camerette (Rooms) of Don Bosco” in Valdocco. The new Casa Don Bosco Museum offers these rooms, refurbished for greater historical accuracy, and much more. Its 27 exhibits span four thousand square metres, on four floors. The logo captures the distinctiveness of each floor. The Blue Hour Glass Did you know there was a “Salesian underground”? From 1856 to 1927, the kitchen, two dining rooms for the boys, a bread oven and a wine cellar were all built underground. Where? In the space which extends from the Church of St. Francis de Sales, the famous portico adjacent to the Pinardi Chapel, and Don Bosco’s rooms. Don Bosco demolished the original Pinardi structures in 1856 to allow these rooms to be excavated. The hour glass symbolizes the passing of time. The blue alludes to the Blessed Mother, ever present at the Oratory, and honoured in two evocative exhibits… one in the dining hall under the church of St. Francis de Sales, the other in Don Bosco’s wine cellar. The tile represents the foundations and the development of a holistic identity on the Oratory’s ground floor: in the playground, trade shops, Pinardi Chapel, and Church of St. Francis de Sales.
