Hajja Salesjana October-November 2020

20 H AJJA S ALESJANA Their ordination date was earmarked for the Saturday after Easter Sunday 2020 but due to the mayhem and turbulence Covid-19 unleashed upon our normalcy, it had to be postponed like many other important events alas. As the days and weeks progressed in semi lockdown, other possible dates for their ordination were mentioned but everything remained very fluid and kept on changing. In the face of all this, despite having waited, studied and strived for this red letter day literally for years, Jake and Paul remained admirably serene and calm, aware that when it would be God’s will, this great life changing day would surely dawn. Nothing could stop the implementation of God’s plan in their lives. And they were perfectly right! So when finally Monday, 29 th June 2020 dawned, everyone was joyously exultant with them both as their ordination to the priesthood was due later that day at Malta’s largest church in Paola dedicated to Christ the King. Jake is a past pupil of Savio College, a computer wizard, qualified in Communications, Philosophy and Theology. Way back in 1999, he was in the class of my very first Form 1 students when I began my role of service as headmaster at Savio College. He hails from B’ kara and is the eldest of four tightly knit siblings. He studied in Malta and Italy and had his practical training at Savio College. He will now be responsible for the Dingli Youth Centre and will do some teaching at Savio College aswell. On the other hand, Paul is a past pupil of St. Aloysius College and got to know us Salesians when he joined and participated in the renowned BOSCOfest event held in 2005. A RED LETTER DAY IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE! Fr. Sandro Camilleri sdb
