Hajja Salesjana October - December 2018

30 In the beginning of July 2018 we embarked on a journey in the biggest country of East Africa: Tanzania. After a night in Upanga, Dar es Salaam, we travelled to the Salesian Novitiate inMorogoro, where we were welcomed by the community together with 11 novices – whom we were lucky enough to witness them becoming Salesians by doing their first profession on the 15th of August. Throughout our two-week stay, we fully participated in the community programme, while also spending the morning hours with the students attending Mt. Carmel English Primary School. Here we were greatly welcomed by all, but especially by the school Principal Sr. Sunny and a Mathematics teacher with whom we have managed to organise some classes and educational activities with the students. Saying goodbye to all involved within the school was surely not an easy one but we are sure that a song we sang and have danced to with the students and staff for our farewell will surely bring back several memories and relationships in mind. In the afternoons, we used to help out the Novices during their daily chores in the gardens surrounding the house. After that, we would change into our sportswear and join the sports activities (mainly football) in the adjacent Salesian Oratory. Here we would spend the time Tanzania beckons .... By Br.
