Hajja Salesjana January February 2017

27 We were first welcomed with some coffee, tea, sandwiches and cake whilst waiting upon Her Excellency’s arrival. As soon as she arrived she thanked us for the work the Salesians are doing here in Malta and also gave a speech about the need for respect and other values, we as youths should work on in order to have a brighter future for Malta since we will be the face of our country in the forthcoming years. Following this speech, there was also an exchange of gifts. The President was given a relic of St. John Bosco, whilst the Oratory was given a silver plate engraved with her name upon it. We were then given a tour of the palace. During the interesting visit, she informed us that she would like to eventually open up the palace for the general public. This will be done once the restoration works undergoing at the moment will be ready. Overall, this was indeed a very positive experience where we were all given the privilege to meet our President, share some precious time with her, speak to her and to see more of Malta’s beautiful and rich heritage at San Anton Palace. On Saturday 26th November 2016, the leaders of the 2016 Bosco Summer School, as well as the oratory helpers were cordially invited to meet Her Excellency Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, President of Malta, at the Palace in San Anton, Attard.
